Origin Housing Care & Repair, who operate in the London Borough's of Camden and Islington successfully obtained their HIA quality mark in November 2009. It was feedback from this report that prompted Origin Housing to decide to create a sustainability policy. Origin Housing already had a sustainability policy, but it was too generic for the needs of the Home Improvement Agency, who had certain specialist needs. Origin contacted CEL Transform to see if we could assist in the project.
No matter how large or small, all of CEL Transform's projects and services are delivered using a structured approach based on appropriate use of PRINCE2 (Projects In Controlled Environments) Methodologies. We therefore developed the key 'Project Implementation Document' or 'PID' and Bill Hewlett, CEL Transform Associate consultant went down to Origin for the standard pre-project meeting. It was clear that Origin required a policy that needed to focus on three main areas:
Our methodology included reviewing company policies and procedures to become familiar with house style, a review of other sustainability policy's within and external to the public sector and consultation with Care and Repair staff. Coupled with our knowledge and expertise on the area this mix contributed to a complete, fully researched sustainability policy for Care and Repair.
