Our core objectives are to:
develop the capacity of the home improvement agency sector
provide advice and support to the sector
represent the sector to government and other stakeholders, and
maintain a database of home improvement agency services for the general public.
Our activities under each of these objectives are listed below.
We are helping to develop the capacity of the sector through:
regional support from our Operational Support Team
our events (such as the home improvement agency annual conference, seminars, and meetings)
the Quality Mark, and
working with local commissioners of home improvement agency services.
We are:
targeting local authorities with no home improvement agency services and making sure vulnerable and elderly people are adequately supported
increasing the quality of home improvement agency services
developing further toolkits and guidance relevant to the sector, and
creating specialisms within our Operational Support Team.
We represent the sector through:
interpreting policy, providing guidance and carrying out research to obtain the sector's views
developing and maintaining partnerships with stakeholders
engaging with government to shape policy development and agendas
attending and speaking at conferences and events
responding to consultations on behalf of the sector
We manage a searchable database of home improvement agencies in England which lists the services that each agency provides.
Our additional activities include administering the Foundations Independent Living Trust Hardship Fund on behalf of the Trustees, research and development on benchmarking and quality standards, and measuring and reviewing our own services.
