Announcing the first national handyperson conference

18 January, 2010

We are pleased to announce a one-day national conference to promote sustainable and holistic handyperson services in England. The event is sponsored by the Home Office and Communities and Local Government (CLG).

Like handyperson services themselves, the conference will offer a broad range and style of content to suit diverse interests. Much of the day will be split into several strands: policy, hands-on, innovation and good practice.

Sessions will include:

  • plenary addresses by CLG and Home Office speakers
  • launch of a new 'benefits tool' to assist local commissioners and providers to demonstrate the benefits and cost-savings to other budgets
  • showcasing successful partnership working between voluntary and community-based organisations and statutory services to meet crime reduction objectives
  • skills and knowledge taster sessions for handyperson fitters
  • debate on building sustainable services with major providers, policy makers and other key players

Details of the event, plus a delegate booking form, are now available in our Events section. The site will be updated with programme and speaker details as these are confirmed.
