Government responds to consultation 'Building a society for all ages'

The government has released its response to the consultation paper ‘Building a Society for all Ages'. Early intervention and good local service delivery have both been recognised as vital in helping people live independently for longer in later life.

The response includes provisions for implementing the ageing strategy to a defined standard across local authorities.The government propose to do this with a number of pledges, including ecouraging local partnerships as a way that local government can redesign services towards prevention and early intervention in terms of planning, commissioning and service delivery.

Other developments since the consultation include the pledge for personal care at home for those with the highest care needs.
