The £20m fund is open to all Local Authorities to apply for funding to help older people in their area keep safe in cold weather with the aim of reducing the number of people suffering cold-related health issues and the amount of excess winter deaths reported each winter.
LAs have been asked to engage with third sector organisations (such as yours) to deliver direct help to those older people most at risk. Successful bids will have to demonstrate this collaborative working.
However time is short and applications have to be in by the 8th December and the funds must be spent by 31 st March 2012. Please ensure you make it known to your LA your willingness to be involved in this important initiative.
