Trusted Assessor level 4: Assessing and Adapting the Home

DLF are proud to announce the newest course to the Trusted Assessor suite; Trusted Assessor: Assessing and Adapting the Home. As with all DLF courses the Trusted Assessor course is an interactive and practical course that will increase confidence and knowledge in the area of major adaptations.

Purpose of the course

To enable the Trusted Assessor to identify a need for major adaptations, assess measure for and prescribe major adaptations and apply for DFG funding for the adaptations or equivalent funding for the adaptations.
The range of equipment includes:
• Ramps and access
• Level access showers
• Stair lifts

Aimed at: Surveyors, OTs, Experienced Trusted Assessors, Housing Associations

Trusted Advisor Level 3: Assessing for Minor Adaptations

Purpose of the Course

To enable staff to conduct assessments with service users, measure for and prescribe minor equipment and adaptations, using clinical reasoning and best practice and be able to reflect and adapt future practice. 

Aimed at:

Nurses, rehab assistants, physiotherapists, care managers, mental health OTs, social workers

Trusted Advisor Level 2: Installing and Demonstrating Minor Adaptations
Handy person teams provide an invaluable service to vulnerable residents; keeping them safe and independent by carrying out low level repairs to their homes. They are also a key frontline response to removing fall hazards, assisting with hospital discharge and signposting to other services for major adaptations.

In order to continue to raise the profile and relevance of Handyperson services, the DLF have redesigned and updated the Trusted Assessor level 2 course for Handy people to use as one of the essential tools in their everyday assessments.

Purpose of the Course

Trusted Assessor Level 2 will enable Handy people to:

  • Have a basic understanding of disability and recognise that provision of suitable equipment will assist clients to live independently
  • Understand the safety and risk factors involved in the prescription of basic equipment
  • Be able to measure and fit and basic equipment
  • Review equipment, adjust and risk assess as required
  • Be able to demonstrate the use of basic equipment to the service user
  • Know when to refer clients to other services
  • Understand the role of the Trusted Assessor at Level Two

The DLF recognise the key role Handy people play in creating safe environments for vulnerable residents and their aim is to ensure that they are fully equipped to make a greater impact as they continue their work.

Handymen, delivery drivers, housing assistants, social workers, technicians, surveyors

Trusted Advisor Level 1: Advising and Referring for Independence at Home 

DLF are proud to announce the newest course to the Trusted Assessor suite; Trusted Advisor: Advising and Referring for Independence at Home. As with all DLF courses the Trusted Advisor course is an interactive and practical course that will increase confidence and knowledge in the area of disability equipment. 

Purpose of the Course

To give confidence to customer service staff to provide advice and referral options for basic daily living aids, understand common conditions and have knowledge of health and social care services available.

Aimed at:

Helpline staff, shop assistants, triage teams, customer service staff
