DFG Review - Paul's Blog

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the DFG Review. Whether you came to the consultation workshops, completed the online survey, submitted Freedom of Information returns, commented on the Facebook group or sent us a written response - they all fed into the first independent review since 2005.

After a hectic 3 months the Review is now finished and has been sumbmitted - and that's about as much as I can tell you for now!

It's already been very hard to keep quiet when others are talking about the issues covered, but that was part of the deal when we signed up to work on the project. The good news is that I think it will be worth the wait!

In the mean time it's well worth reading the recent reports from the Centre for Ageing Better and the Equalities and Human Rights Commission. We'll also be publishing our DFG Quality Standard in the coming months.

If you came to the Review workshops, you will have heard me talk about an integrated approach to DFG delivery. I didn't name the service, but it was the HEART service in Warwickshire - and I was very pleased to see them win the Commissioning trophy at this year's HIA Awards at the House of Lords. Congratulations also to Homelife Carlisle for winning the Adaptations Service of the Year. Details of all of our winners will be available soon.

I've got a feeling that 2018 is going to be an important year for DFG ahead of it's 30th birthday next year - join us on social media to get all the news fast and first!
