DFG Basics – Rules and Regulations
The first new official government guidance for Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG) in 18 years has been published. Content has been designed to follow the guidance and to help you to effectively and efficiently deliver funded adaptations to best serve the needs of local older and disabled people.
This course gives a practical introduction to Disabled Facilities Grants, including an overview of the rules and regulations, how to them work in practice and tips for handling those tricky cases. We’ll also look at where Councils have gone wrong in the past and how to avoid making the same mistakes.
On successful completion of this course, delegates will:
- Understand the legislation and regulations for Disabled Facilities Grants
- How to apply the rules and use the associated guidance
- Learn about common misunderstandings and how to challenge decisions
- Overview of the DFG Quality Standard and ideas for improved delivery systems
- Understand when and how to use discretion
Meet the Trainer
The course will be presented by Nina Warrington.
Nina trained as a nurse over 30 years ago and during her studies became interested in homelessness and the impacts on a person’s health. Her interest prompted her to move career into housing in around 2002 and she has spent several decades in several varied roles as a homelessness and strategic housing officer. Nina has experience at both a middle and senior management level finally becoming the Head of Strategic Housing Services for a city council, also covering community services, corporate safeguarding, civil emergency and business continuity.
Nina has 3 grown-up children and 4 grandchildren. She likes to be busy and enjoys looking after her many orchids and a special bonsai tree.
