Save Time. Reduce Risks. Deliver Better Adaptations.
Introducing the Home Adaptations Installer Network.
Key Benefits:
- Free up officer time by accessing a pre-vetted list of TrustMark-registered contractors.
- Reduce disputes with an impartial complaints resolution service.
- Ensure high-quality outcomes that build public trust.
Why Local Authorities Should Get Involved
Foundations recently surveyed local authorities (LAs) and found that 41% do not maintain a list of contractors for Disabled Facilities Grants (DFGs)—despite this being recommended as good practice in the DFG guidance. The Home Adaptations Installers Network (HAIN) fills this gap by providing LAs with a trusted list of vetted contractors, ensuring they have access to a network of professionals essential to the successful delivery of home adaptations.
Contractors play a vital role in the DFG process, and quality adaptations require quality contractors. HAIN focuses on providing contractors who not only meet high standards of workmanship but also bring customer care and compassion to their work, ensuring a positive experience for disabled residents and their families.
Benefits for Local Authorities
Joining HAIN is free for LAs, while contractors cover a small fee, creating a sustainable model that benefits both parties. Here’s how HAIN supports local authorities:
- Assured Quality and Compliance: HAIN contractors are TrustMark-accredited, with a minimum 2-year workmanship guarantee and a 2-year insurance-backed guarantee on projects over £500. This helps ensure reliability and quality in adaptation works, critical for resident satisfaction and public trust.
- Efficient Complaint Resolution: As an impartial third party, HAIN provides a complaint mediation service, helping to resolve any issues between the client, the contractor, and the council. This service not only saves LAs time but also provides residents with added peace of mind.
- Potential to Manage Existing Contractor Lists: HAIN has the capacity to take over management of existing contractor lists maintained by LAs. This feature offers a valuable opportunity to free up officer time, allowing local authorities to focus on other critical areas of their work.
- Easy Contractor Search: With HAIN’s searchable online platform, LAs can quickly filter contractors based on accreditation and expertise. This streamlines the contractor selection process, speeds up DFG delivery, and ensures that local residents receive the right support at the right time.
How to Access the Home Adaptations Installers Network
The network is scheduled for a full launch in early 2025. Local authorities interested in joining can explore an introductory session to understand how HAIN can integrate with their current processes and free up resources.
